The Interior Ministry: Gradual Response to Violence

On 1 June 2010, and during his meeting with MPs from Al Wefaq

Society to discuss issues related to security, the Minister of Interior said that the response of security forces to violence and riots is subject to its severity, and that a ‘gradual response’ is adopted in confronting violence . He added that sometimes riots can be controlled quickly, but when the situation requires special attention, it is the officer responsible who makes the ultimate decision. If the lives of policemen are endangered, as is the case with the use of Molotov cocktails, this gives them the right to defend themselves. We regret that any citizen gets injured due to his/her participation in such violent activities.
