Al Shyjee: Frustration over Delay of Press Law

The President of the Bahraini Journalist Association (BJA) Isaa Al Shyjee said that the Association is working hard to establish a code of conduct for journalists, which was delayed due to differences of opinion. He also said that the Association has reached a state of despair because of the continued delay in passing the Press Law in the House of Representatives. He hopes that the new House of Representatives will ratify the Press Law and that the journalists will soon reach an agreement, which will benefit the Bahraini press. Al Shyjee’s statements were made during a conference held on 24 January 2011, which was organised by the BJA with the coordination of the International Federation of Journalists.
